This hand turned ballpoint pen is made from two different materials. The hybrid blank was made by casting a chunk of burl with acrylic in coppery swirls, pockets of shimmering cream and black highlights. The cured blank was cut to size, squared and turned to shape with a sharp carbide tool. The shaped barrel was sealed in cyanoacrylate and wet sanded through a 9-step process (1200-15,000 grit). The barrel was further polished with several layers of Renaissance wax and then buffed on a jeweler’s wheel to a high gloss finish.
This distinctive material is mounted on a long barrel chrome and textured black twist ballpoint. Twist the cap to extend or retract the writing tip. This pen uses Parker ballpoint or gel refills.
