The upper barrel of this hand-turned pen is made from Leopard Jasper TruStone. TruStone is made by pulverizing semi-precious stones into powder and combining them with natural pigments and resins. The final product is more than 85% stone content making them heavier and harder than other man-made turning materials. TruStone is difficult to turn due to its tool dulling hardness and brittle nature. Carbide tools are a must as are patient shallow cuts.
The lower barrel of this pen is turned from shed Mule Deer antler, indigenous to western North America, usually found west of the Missouri River and specifically in the Rocky Mountains. These exotic materials are mounted on a beautifully balanced chrome rollerball with a 24kt gold detailed center band. This pen uses Schmidt 5888 ceramic rollerball refills.
