Your hand-turned pen is made from two different wood species chosen for their complimentary color and grain. The upper barrel is Padauk (puh•DOUK), a generic name for a number of leguminous trees in the genus Pterocarpus that have reddish wood. Native to Asia, the South Pacific and West Africa. Pterocarpus indicus also known as Narra grows in the Philippines, Borneo and the Malay peninsula preferring rain forests. Whether it is called Red Narra, Papua New Guinea Rosewood or Solomon’s Padauk it is P. indicus that was chosen by King Solomon for the red pillars of his famous temple.
The lower barrel of your pen is turned from a cholla cactus skeleton stabilized in copper colored acrylic. The term cholla is a generic term that denotes 30-35 species of cacti growing in the Southwest that are characterized by cylindrical stems jointed in segments. Most commonly found are Jumping, Teddy Bear, Chainfruit and Staghorn Cholla.
Mounted in a handsome black titanium and platinum finish twist ballpoint, your pen uses Parker style ballpoint or gel refills.
